I bought a single poppy stem at the farmer's market on Friday for a mother who always organizes our class socials. Sophie really wanted to carry it to her, even though we had to go home first to pick up our potluck food. We were all amazed at how much the petals look like paper. Now all eyes are tuned up, looking for poppies in gardens we pass as we drive. These white blossoms are striking - the first I've seen.
