Although I have a few more seams to finish on my charm quilt I've started thinking about the border fabric. Here are the top 3:
These polka dots are a Moda fabric, part of the Sock Monkey line. I LOVE this fabric and like that it gives the quilt top a more contemporary look. However, I'm not loving the white background.
This is one of my many pieces of cat fabric. I don't remember where I got it. I absolutely love this fabric although I'm really not much of a blue person - expect maybe in the Eeyore way occasionally. I like this as a border because I feel like it's me. I also like the dark grays and the black.
I bought this fabric off of Ebay. It is vintage, assuming something made in the late 70s is vintage. I love it's brightness and think it really compliments the rainbow. When I think rainbow I think bright, clear colors. This definitely fits that bill.
Feedback please!!
i actually like the polka dots the best. BUT, it sounds like you like the blue the best, so my question is, what does the blue look like on the other sides? next to the red, or on the top and bottom? and same question for the red...
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the red one!
ReplyDeleteI love the last RED border the best. It absolutly POPS!
ReplyDeleteI am going with the red. It just looks peaceful somehow, does that sound to weird?
ReplyDeleteHeather
I personally love the dots the best (but you've seen my white dominant quilt) so I would also go with the red....it just looks.....right.
ReplyDeleteI like the red best. Wish I knew how to quilt - this looks charming!
ReplyDeleteI really like the red one!!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't really my forte, but I agree with Jo. I am curious as to what the blue and red look like against the other sides. I think I like the blue regardless.
ReplyDeletered is my favourite. i like the scale of the print with the 3inch squares. plus the colour. i often thought that when a red square was thrown into the randomness it tied my quilt together in some way. and when i thought(briefly) about my border, the one colour i was sure i wanted was red.
ReplyDeleteI love the red fabric, it makes the whole thing pop!
ReplyDeleteI love the red! It makes the colors in the quilt pop out and it completes the rainbow.
ReplyDeleteThe dots are cute and of course I always like blue, but here the red works best!
I love the red. It makes the colors pop and completes the rainbow! The dots are really cute and of course I love the blue, but red fits here for me.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the red fabric as well!
ReplyDeleteI pick the red! But then I am all about bright and red is my favorite color so I am biased. What do you plan to do with the quilt? You might want to go withthe dots or cats if you want a more relaxing quilt.
ReplyDeleteRed, definitely the red.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue one. One big reason is that it reminds you of yourself. The other one is that it's peaceful and I like that it brings the rainbow in that unexpected but welcome direction.
ReplyDeleteI like the red and the dots, I don't like the blue one, maybe it's the cats not the colour though :o)
ReplyDeleteAre you going to do step-by-step guide for the next part of the quilt?
1) Red
ReplyDelete2) Blue
I think the Red looks best. But, do see how you like the colors when they are lined up with the other sides.... : ) Wish I could have joined in with all the fun but maybe another time. Love watching the progress. Also, I'm enjoying your little differences of Europe. Thanks!

I like the blue one. It just fits. Maybe its what you said...but I just like it best. Love looking at your fabrics! They are so fun.
ReplyDeleteKaty - I liked the blue one - obviously a minority opinion! I do have a thing for cats, though!
ReplyDelete#1 too white
ReplyDelete#2 cats detract from the rest of the scraps (you focus on cats and not the cute mosaic appeal)
#3 Just right.
I like the red fabric. Man, I am so behind everyone else on my charm quilt! I haven't even started!!! I have got to get on that this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like the red! But, red is one of my favorite colors. :)
