Married?! Yes! Married!

As some of you know or have figured out my sister is getting married! As the maid of honor or Best Woman, as my sister prefers, I have the honor of hosting a bridal shower and bachelorette party for her. The only tricky part of all of this is that she lives in Hawaii and, well, I don't. So, she's visiting for a week and we're having both!

Sunday was the Bridal Shower. It was at Cafe Flora, the haven of vegetarian and vegan cuisine in Seattle. I highly recommend hosting a shower at a restaurant. It was a special treat for all the guests and alleviated the need for frantic cooking and cleaning. Financially speaking, my mom and I figured we probably spent as much on the restaurant bill as we would have on food and flowers for an in house shower.

It was a breakfast bridal shower and the food did *not* disappoint. The beignets were a highlight as was the coffee. The coffee was some of the best drip I've tasted.
To remember the occasion, guests signed a Cafe Flora cookbook that was then given to the bride-to-be, Emily.

Emily received many wonderful gifts from luggage to all the necessary equipment to concoct the perfect pitcher of sangria. A close friend knitted Emily a garter with a ribbon in the wedding colors.
As party favors, each guest left with a glass heart from Bedrock.

More pictures from the shower here. Saturday is the bachelorette party. Watch for a G rated (ha!) post sometime next week.

What a lovely idea. It looks positively yummy. I'm feeling in need of a little pampering and treating. Sounds like just the place I should go.

I like that idea for a shower. I think it sounds like everyone had a really good time.

Thank you SO much for the headbands! They arrived today, and they're all just perfect. Can't wait to wear them and show them off! :)

I'm feeling a little smug about recommending Cafe Flora! And also thinking, damn, *I* should go there soon - your pictures of the food are amazing.

Lovely photos, Katy. I esp. like the one of your sister. And the dress seems quite lovely.

Hi, I found you via Tee's Closet blog. That signing of the book for the bride to be is genius! I always liek a gift that says something from everyone. You are a great Best Woman!

I just discovered your blog today, and am reading back some. I love so many things about this shower! The cookbook/guest book is such a great idea, and I love the recycled glass hearts! (As a knitter, I loved the garter, too, and regret that such a thing didn't cross my mind when I was getting married.)
