What brings us to Luxembourg you ask? My husband's job. Living abroad has been a goal of ours since we met. This opportunity came about and it just seemed right. We have a 2 year commitment and will leave in November. Right now we're on our Preview Trip, spending a day looking at housing, touring the 3 English speaking schools, meeting with a tax specialist and going to a toy store. My oldest wants to know if they have My Little Ponies in Luxembourg. I promised her I'd check it out.

Here are some basics about Luxembourg:

Official Name: The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
Official Languages: German, French and Luxembourgish
Size: 990 Square Miles (2586 square kilometers)
Borders: Germany, France and Belgium
Population: Just under half a million
Capitol: Luxembourg
Motto: We want to remain what we are

My head is absolutely buzzing with the enormity of this decision. The details seem endless. I try to focus on the next task at hand and not look too far into the future. If you have experience with this type of move, I'd love to hear from you.

The next MTM challenge is:

CHILDREN'S LITERATURE

Fun, huh! Find a children's book and make your muffin tin fit with the book. A challenge for sure, but a super fun one. These will be due, September 8th. We'll skip Labor Day, giving you an extra week to figure out your challenge.

Heidi Swapp, www.heidiswapp.com/blog did this last year about this time. She picked her family up and moved to china. She has blogged about the experiences for over a year now. It should prove to be amazing!

Hey.. just happened across your blog.. I am from vegas and living in Spain with my husband and 3 year old son. We are here for good and really like it. I know an international move is a big deal but in my opinion... so worth it. You mentioned a daughter.. what an amazing experience to show her the world! Good luck to you!

My friends Lisa and Dave moved to London for two years for Amazon, and they have two little boys, one of whom I think was in kindergarten at the start of it. Anyway, they are super nice and I'd be happy to put you in touch. It would have to be in person, though, because I haven't seen either of you gals in ages!

I just saw all the pics on flickr and had to find out the deets! This sounds amazing and like a truly wonderful opportunity. I only ever spent a day & night in Luxembourg but it really is a beautiful place (as your photos reminded me.) Good luck!

Wow, it seems like a lot has happened for you since I left at the beginning of the summer. Congratulations. What a dream come true. So nice to have a partner with the same live-abroad goals as you do. What excitement. It makes me want to 'eeek'.
