Growing Pains

No, not the show. No, not my own. My girls are giving me growing pains. They're growing. How? Why? Something very strange is going on in our house now. Both girls are going through some big developmental changes.

My oldest is writing ~ all the time. Notes to her friends, her sister, books, labels, words, names . . . she seems to be permanently fixed at the dining room table with paper and her favorite pink pen asking me how to spell something. I taught her how to play War. I am playing real card games with my child. How is this possible? My 4 1/2 year old who fell out of her new twin bed last night. Her big girl bed. I told her, "This bed will last a long time, you'll even be able to have it when you're a teenager." She responded, "Can I put it in my coffin so it will be more comfortable when I die?" My thoughtful, curious, sweet little daughter.

My 2 year old is talking. She's been taking her time (for quite a while now) and this week she decided to let it all out. She gets it now. She tells me things now. She runs into the living room after bath and announces NAKED now. My 2 year old. So charming, so affectionate, so naughty. I just want to eat her up.

Yeah, we're moving to Europe in a month or so. Yeah, we're renting our house, selling our car, leaving our cat. That's nothing compared to the change I feel as I watch my babies turn into kids.

I totally feel your pain!! Well, not the moving part, wow, what a huge change! I do, however, feel the growing pains with my daughter who just turned 2. I can't imagine that times 3 with your girls! It's bitter sweet for sure. Sweet to see all the wonderful things they can do and bitter to watch the time go by. :)

Sounds like the girls are really blooming. I hope we can see them before the big move! Do you have a date yet? I am having HUGE growing pains too with the girls. I would love to freeze them where they are and have them stay this way forever. I love the stages they are at and am so sad they continue to grow and not need me so much.

I feel the same way. What gets me every morning is my little guy stumbling to the bathroom with eyes half closed to "go." He already looks like an old man!

Isn't is SO hard? I can't think of my boys getting bigger. It makes my heart hurt so badly.

It is truly a stunner. I can't get over the things that my daughter says all of the sudden (at 5 3/4...last I checked she was 3!). She actually knows things that I don't now. It is so bittersweet. I just don't want it to be over (even if I just wish I had a break...)

I completely understand. I look at my girls and can hardly believe they were the babies I delivered. I really wish they wouldn't grow up so fast.

Your description of your two year old is a perfect one for my two year old too, who BTW, also likes to announce to the whole house when she is NAKED!

Oh don't do this to me! I can so easily go down that road. They indeed grow TOO FAST!
I hope you know how truly happy and excited I am for your new adventure. Sometimes I think things but forget to write them.

Have a great weekend hon,
a.

I so understand. They grow soooo quickly. Our oldest is 11, it seams like yesterday she was 2. When I look at our 2 youngest children, one 3 and one 10 mo. I can't help but wonder if there is someway I can make it all last a little longer.
