Cookies DeLux

I did it. I figured out how to make chocolate chip cookies here. Took me quite a while to gather all the required ingredients. Brown sugar being the most elusive. My grocery shopping mentor gave me the baking soda. I brought the chocolate chips from home. I used an IKEA childrens cup as the measuring cup (it looks like it holds about a cup, right?) I used a spaghetti pot as the mixing bowl. A soup spoon as a teaspoon. Ingredient I'm the most curious about - the vanilla. It came in little glass viles, the kind that perfume samples come it. The flavor is called vanilla butter. Smells just like it's name too. End result? Good! I assume they'll be even tastier when I get my measuring cups and spoons. Most importantly though, the girls and I really had fun baking.

we have that same vanilla butter or vanilla aroma it is called here. We also have vanilla sugar that we use instead of the liquid too.

Your cookies look so thick... how do you get them that thick? Would love to know... :)

Your cookies look great. That vanilla looks interesting...

By the way, we're heading to Renton in a few of weeks to visit family for Christmas. They don't have any kids and don't really have any ideas on what we can do with our boys when we're there. We've only been in the summer so I'm scared about being there in the winter. Any ideas from someone with kids would be soooo appreciated.

YUMMY! Glad you were able to be resourceful and get it figured out. WOW, I don't think I would ever find the needed ingredients with all that packaging. Seeing the visual now explains why you needed a shopping helper!! When will your other shipments arrive?

Ouch Katy, don't buy this vanilla stuff again, it's evil ! I use the real vanilla extract, that you can find in powder, or liquid, but it's brown as it should be. I'm not sure it's at the Cactus, but I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get it at the Delhaize (more or less opposite to the Little Gym)...
