Did I Tell You About the Time I Cried in French Class?

It happened yesterday. It was the perfect storm ~ I was 20 minutes late due to my absent sense of direction, I couldn't understand let alone respond to one thing my French teacher was saying, it was the stress of the move, the loneliness of the holidays, the trauma of the previous year, the realization that no matter where you go, there *you* are, the inability to get a good night's sleep, being an awkward, clumsy American in Europe, the lack of exercise, my loud inner critic - all combined with a generous sprinkle of hormones. My poor unfortunate French teacher. He was so very kind and compassionate. He got me Kleenex and told me to have a sip of water. Believe it or not we actually went on to have a very productive lesson. He is definitely deserving of some baked goods.

Soon I'll tell you about the time I made ricotta cheese and felt like a rock star. I'll also tell you about Pierre. He's a turkey.

Oh Katy, I think you are doing such a great job keeping yourself so together during this huge upheaval. You deserve a breakdown or two (and French class is kinda a cool place to have one if you ask me.) We are all thinking of you and sending lots of love your way, hope you feel it!

I don't know why it put sodapops on there...I wasn't trying to give you a secret code or anything.

Oh, Katy, I hope you are feeling better, for SURE things have got to be overwhelming and the holidays always bring on a gust of emotions with those already stirring.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday! Can't wait to read more entries!
Miss you!
Julie

Sorry about the breakdown, but it certainly was deserved and probably needed. I have to admit, I am imagining a gorgeous French teacher consoling you (you don't need to let me think any different:-)
To make you feel better, both girls were wearing their awesome monkey shirts today and got MANY compliments and people wanted to know where they could get their own!!!

Katy- you must have been SO needing that! Whoever would have thought that it would take French class to make it happen. I hope you are feeling a little calm after the emotional storm. I can't help but comment on how amazing your writing is though... you bring the moment to life with such a clarity that I truly think you should write a book! Because you have so much time of course.... :) Lots of love!

dutch,
We are so much alike! I did a very similiar thing with my Italian teacher when I was in Italy. I'm wondering if it felt just a little relief to break down...can't wait to hear about the turkey.
love you, miss you, love you, miss you.

Sweet Katy,

It sounds like any one of the things would be deserving of a few tears but all of them combined are worthy of a breakdown in the arms of your frenchman. Was Bryce just a little jealous? :)

Hope you are feeling better! You're an awesome wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, crafter, and blogger!

We love and miss you guys!
xoxo Michele

toblerone dip is just melted toblerone bars (i bought two small ones) mixed with whipped cream.. here cream is kinda different to you guys it is thickened whipping cream which you have to whip yourself with electric beaters.. but the dip is soooo easy and soo yummy you wont be able to wreck it :) have it as chocolately or creamy as you like, just watch while you are adding them together or buy extra bar incase it isnt chocolately enough

enjoy!!

have a great christmas

Hey, remember us talking about how "a sip of water" fixes everything with our kids? Now, we know it works on us, too. Hang in there. This is your most beautiful piece of writing yet.xoxo

Your line about the "Inner Critic" rang so true. I know that critic. Maybe you can give that critic a couple days off and let yourself off the hook for awhile! Hang in there.
