Last Sunday we visited Parc Merveilleux, located in Bettembourg, Luxembourg.
It started as a Fairy Tale Park. Eva was fascinated with these fairy tale houses. There must have been 10 of them. I found them charmingly kitschy and a little bit creepy. With a push of a button the fairy tale would be read in either French, Dutch or Luxembourgish.

The park also had elements of a playground. This chain link spider web was incredible. There were huge wooden spiders perched on the top of the web. The kids crawling around in there really looked like insects trapped in a web. It was pretty cool. There was also a family swing (that's what we called it anyway.) It had seven seats and was set in motion by pushing your legs. It could really get going. It was so much fun!
The park was also sort of a zoo. It had a variety of lemurs and a impressive building dedicated to the animals and habitat of Madagascar.
Believe it or not there was also rides at Parc Merveilleux. Just a few. They were dated but delightfully so. Look at these funny little metal horses that "rode" around on a track.
The best part of the day, though, was not the attractions but the time spent together. It was one of those rare occasions when we were all content, all on the same page. We enjoyed being together, being a family. Before heading home we spent a tranquil hour or so sitting by this pond, taking in the late summer sun, and just being.

What a wonderful day...your entire blog seems like a fairy tale...
So wish I could have been with you...what
a good, peaceful time. mom
My god, you have the luckiest children in the world. What an incredible, child-centric place.
Isn't nice when the whole family is content. You have to savor those moments because they don't happen that often (with our four personalities at least).
sounds like a beautiful day. reminds me about what you said about unexpected wonderful moments.
dang I miss you and the girls.
Wow! This place looks amazing and so fantastical! We are going to an enchanted evening in the park soon and can't wait! :)
Oh I love that giant web... totally cool I would want to play there for hours or rather watch my kids play there for hours! Hope you ave a great weekend!
How awesome! Both the time you all had together and the place! Put that on the list of things to do when we are there! I think our goal is to recreate your entire time in the short time we visit. haha. Erik would love that whirlwind.
What a great park! I just found your blog via Crafty Crow. I look forward to reading more.
I think I visited there as a little girl! Did they have a snow white or sleeping beauty one (where the girl is asleep, waiting for the prince to kiss her)? That is the one that has stayed with me. A little creepy, yes, but magical at the same time!
Sounds like this is a memory that you will always cherish.
Lena - Ha! I already added this to the list of places we want to take you when you visit! We can't wait!!! Have you talked Erik into 3 weeks yet?
