What an adorable theme and it looks like you did a wonderful job. I am so impressed with the table and wings. Too cute. I keep thinking..will I ever think of such clever things with Maddy? I may need your help!
It looks so sweet! My daughter will turn 6 next year in early December and has said she wants a Christmas themed party - maybe she'd go for snow fairy instead? Did you make the wings and headbands? It is all very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
just lovely! what did the 6 year old think about the theme? i, too, often think it's a bit much, but when i did an over-the-top Fancy Nancy affair last year, my daughter loved it.
On the "theme party" front, I think kids are either into them or not and it can actually be easier on the parent if they are. Cut and dried plan, y'know? Piper wants a 1/2 unicorn, 1/2 bride, 1/2 pony, 1/2 princess, 1/2 fairy and 1/2 kitten birthday party.
I'd really like the simple and ever-lovely snow fairy one...
Hi all, thanks for your comments! Each girl got a pair of wings. I found them on ebay at a very reasonable price. I made the headbands from an artificial flower and a stretchy headband. I wanted to do something more snowflake-y but couldn't come up with something - and actually find the supplies here. We made a snowflake cookie for each girl as the "goodie bag." The girls also made magic wands using a straw and a long piece of silver ribbon. This was Eva's idea - they just taped the ribbon onto the straw and waved it around. Brilliant. The girls showed up in fairy dresses.
As for the question of a theme . . . I think it is more important and fun for the adult planning the party. No child is going to geek out on the cool themed invitations, giveaways, games and decorations like a mommy would. Yes, they may want to have a "pony" party . . . but would they really care if *everything* was pony related? I've decided that the only proper recipient of a theme party would be another mother. So, if any of you want a fairy party, I'd be happy to do it for you. Another thing about themes - I just got too obsessed with it. Instead of focusing on fun or letting Eva have more say in her party I fixated on the theme. But perhaps that is just my neurosis.
Katy - I can see your point on the theme, not that you explain it.
Road Tripper - I had to lol at all the 1/2's in your party. Good luck with her math homework! heehee All kidding aside -I love it when kids get excited for something, and I really love a theme. We just had a Harry Potter party here last week, and we will be having a tea party in another couple weeks.

So great, Katy! Now I'm really kicking myself for not getting her box of goodies in the mail! Soon, I promise!
How lovely! I'm sure any little girl would have had a wonderful time at that party!
