The state of things

DSC02353
I'd describe the state of things as loosely controlled chaos. Boxes. Movers. Stuff. I feel like I should be productive at all times but I just end up walking in circles. Checking things. Shifting piles. Wondering what I really should be doing. Wiping the counter. It is strange.

I keep waiting for the emotions to come. To feel sadness and loss. I know they are there, lurking behind the frenzy. Right now all I can do is keep my head down and focus on ticking off items on my to-do list. It is unfortunate, really. But that is the way it is. I'm sure when the dust settles the feelings will rise.

I've been keeping a list of all the things I'm going to miss about Luxembourg. I'll be sharing it with you in a series of posts called - Addi Luxembourg! These posts will hopefully bridge the gap while I'm without connectivity.

Thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey of living abroad. Your comments have provided much needed company and brought insight into my experience. I hope you'll join me back in Seattle as we muddle our way through repatriation. A journey in and of itself. Until then, Addi from Luxembourg!

wow, it has come round so quickly!
I have suffered from revers culture shock in the past, something that isn't talked about much but settling back in to your own culture can be quite challenging sometimes. Hopefully yo will all just slide back into America without any hiccups!

There are those of us who can't wait for you to come home! I bet the feelings will start to hit when your new traditions (the food related ones especially) have no meaning here. Hang in there. It's been an absolute joy to go on this adventure with you.

So you're leaving...so very sad to see you go!!!! Have a safe and uneventful return (ie, nothing happens to your stuff while crossing the ocean, you don't get any grief from the customs guys or better, all of your precious treasures arrive in one piece!!!)... I will miss your posts on living abroad and will follow you religiously as you settle back home, as this may happen to us too sooner than later! Thanks a million again!!!

I've so enjoyed reading your blog the past years! Your "boxes" pic brings back so many memories. We were stationed in England for a few years and coming back to the US was, indeed, challenging in a whole new way. How I wish I'd recorded our overseas experience the way you have on this blog--what an amazing resource for your reflections and memories!!! Thanks for sharing it, and traveling mercies with your move!

Looks like how our house looked before we moved only we only went from one city to another - not a country! Good luck. What a grand adventure you had.
