Movie Meme

I saw this meme* on manic mommy's blog and it looked like so much fun, I had to give it a try myself. Don't worry, I won't tag any of you bloggers with this, but I will tell you just how much fun I had with it. If you do it, let me know I'd love to see your post. Once you get started, you will quickly get addicted, it reminds you of why you love the movies you do. On with the meme~

The rules:
- Pick fifteen of your favorite movies.
- Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
- Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.
- Fill in the film title once it's guessed.

This part is for the reader:
- No Googling or using IMDB search functions.
- Leave your answer(s) in the comments.

Picking 15 movies was a hard task for me as I'm not a movie buff at all! Some are current favs and others were favs at certain times in my life. Honestly, the whole time I was choosing, I kept thinking of my husband who is passionate about certain movies. For him, narrowing it down to 15 would be hard.

MOVIE #1:
We're all going to hell for the songs we sing!
And what about me, Jerry Lee; am I going to hell too?
No, June, you're beautiful.
Walk the Line - Ambika (Into the Fray)

MOVIE #2:
It rubs the lotion on its skin. It does this whenever it is told.
Mister... my family will pay cash. Whatever ransom you're askin' for, they pay it.
It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.
Yes, it will, Precious, won't it? It will get the hose!

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS - Trina (Woven Chains)
MOVIE #3:

Honey, I'm thinking of switching to the mock turtleneck?
Is that not breathing?
Well, it's breathing now, but it'll be hot down there. I could go with the lambswool, but then again, you'll see a lot of khaki down there and this merlot looks good with the gray.

Best in Show - Ambika (Into the Fray)
MOVIE #4:

Baby don't you cry, gonna make a pie, gonna make a pie with a heart in the middle. Baby don't be blue, gonna make for you, gonna make a pie with a heart in the middle. Gonna make a pie from heaven above, gonna be filled with strawberry love. Baby don't you cry, gonna make a pie, and hold you forever in the middle of my heart.

Waitress - Em

MOVIE #5:
What are you looking at?
Oh, the silent majesty of a winter's morn... the clean, cool chill of the holiday air... an asshole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer...
Shitter was full.
Ah, yeah. You checked our shitters, honey?
Clark, please. He doesn't know any better.
He oughta know it's illegal. That's a storm sewer. If it fills with gas, I pity the person who lights a match within ten yards of it.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Manic Mommy)

MOVIE #6:
The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences.

Mr. Franz I think careers are a 20th century invention and I don't want one.

INTO THE WILD - Lisa (Franny Kate)

MOVIE #7:
I knew a man once who said, "Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back."
I wonder, did your friend smile at his own death?
You must know. He was your father.
You loved my father, I know. But so did I. That makes us brothers, doesn't it? Smile for me now, brother.

Gladiator - Dawn (Scary White Girl)

MOVIE #8:
Grandpa, am I pretty?
You are the most beautiful girl in the world.
You're just saying that.
No! I'm madly in love with you and it's not because of your brains or your personality.

Little Miss Sunshine (Manic mommy)

MOVIE #9:
What's that?
It's singing.
Yes, I realize it's singing, but who?
The children.
The children?
I taught them something to sing for the Baroness

The Sound of Music (Manic Mommy)

MOVIE #10:
Very clever dinner. Appetizing food fit neatly into interesting round pie.
It's a quiche.
How do you spell?
Well you don't spell it, son, you eat it

16 Candles - Em

MOVIE #11:
I been comin' here for six years, and for six years ya been stickin' it to me, an' I wanna know how come!
Ya don't wanna know!
I wanna know how come!
Ya wanna know?
I WANNA KNOW HOW!
OK, I'm gonna tell ya! You had the talent to become a good fighter, but instead of that, you become a legbreaker to some cheap, second rate loanshark!
It's a living.
IT'S A WASTE OF LIFE!.

Rocky - (Manic Mommy)

MOVIE #12:
What are you all, the second team?
We're the first team.
Yeah, and we're not going to fall for a banana in the tailpipe.
You're not going to fall for the banana in the tailpipe? It should be more natural, brother. It should flow out, like this - "Look, man, I ain't fallin' for no banana in my tailpipe!" See, that's more natural for us. You been hanging out with this dude too long.

Beverly Hills Cop - Marf

MOVIE #13:
Each time I tell myself it's the last time, but then I get a whiff of her hot chocolate, or...
...Seashells. Chocolate seashells, so small, so plain, so *innocent*. I thought, oh, just one little taste, it can't do any harm. But it turned out they were filled with rich, sinful...
...And it *melts*, God forgive me, it melts ever so slowly on your tongue, and tortures you with pleasure.

Chocolat - Em

MOVIE #14:
How about a little Sneaky Pete to get the party going?
Anyone want a Twinkie?
Twinkies and wine? Oh, that's real class, Jan.
It says right here it's a dessert wine.
What's the matter? We don't got cooties!
I'll bet you've never had a drink before, have you?
Oh, yes I did. I had some champagne at my cousin's wedding once.
Well, ringa ding-ding.

Grease - Trina (Woven Chains)

MOVIE #15:
And you know what they call a... a... a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in
Paris? They don't call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese? No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn't know what the f**k a Quarter Pounder is.

Then what do they call it?
They call it a Royale with cheese.
A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac?
Well, a Big Mac's a Big Mac, but they call it le Big-Mac.
Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper?
I dunno, I didn't go into Burger King.

PULP FICTION - Trina (Woven Chains)

*Memes are also known as tags. As far as I can understand (thanks Ambika) tags are a series questions or blog post suggestions that are answered then passed on for other bloggers to complete then post on their own blogs.

Ooo, this is fun. I think #1 is 'Walk the Line' but I'm not certain. #3 is one of my faves, 'Best in Show.' Those characters were the best. And I think #6 is 'Say Anything' but I haven't seen it in a loooong time.

This was fun! I'll have to fit this in to next weeks post.

thanks ambika. . . very close on #6, but not quite. You're in the right genre.

katy said...

knew you'd get 16 candles. How many times did we watch that?

Only a few more . . .I'll give hints if needed.

Okay, I can't help myself, I'm guessing again.

#14 is "Grease". The sleepover scene. It took me reading that one out loud to "get it"

I can't believe I didn't get "Gladiator". That is one of my favorite movies. Maybe all of the eye-candy stopped up my ears, though. :)

katy said...

you got it, Trina!! I know what you mean about eye candy although I started my crush on Russell Crowe during LA Confidential.

3 left peeps!! HINTS: One is an 80s classic, one is current (2007), the other takes place in a small French village.

Is #6 Into the Wild? Haven't seen it but it is on the top of our list. Have no idea of Eddie Vedar did the soundtrack though.

YAYAYAYAYAY!! Lisa got the last one! Thanks all for playing. Please let me know if you post this meme on your blog. I'd love to play along.

My husband SO would have gotten Gladiator. I think he may have a crush on Russell Crowe.

If you had gone with "He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him." I'd have known it cold.
