Little Pink Houses

. . . and one for us! Bryce and I couldn't wait to tell our oldest we would be living in a PINK house in Luxembourg. My Little Ponies and a pink house, are you kidding me?

Our housing hunt started the first full day we were there. Bryce and I had received some tips from one of his colleagues the night before so we had some neighborhoods in mind. We also learned that apartments DO NOT come with light fixtures or washer and dryers. So we were not quite as shocked to see wires hanging out of the ceilings. Weird, huh? Ya know what else? Toilets are in their own separate little room (closet) from the bathtub and sink.

This little pink house was the 3rd place we looked at. As Bryce and I looked around we could actually picture our life there. Our stuff there. It just seemed like a perfect fit. The main floor has the living room, dining room, entry way, kitchen and a 1/2 bathroom. The second floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bathroom. The third floor (I'm not making this up) is an open loft area. Although it has slanted ceilings, it is still possible to stand. Perfect sleeping area for guests (you are coming to visit, aren't you?) Both staircases are steep and wooden and have toddler death trap written all over them. Yes, they will be gated at all times.

There is a garage, unfinished basement, little back patio, yard and clothes line. I'll admit it was the clothes line that sealed the deal for me. And the neighbors beautiful vegetable garden. Strange thing about this house is that the rent was less than both of the apartments we looked at. Feels too good to be true. Maybe it is. But for now, it feels like home.

Up tomorrow - FOOD!

Interesting - always funny to see what is "normal" in other countries (like no light fixtures - what?). Glad everything worked out!

Sounds perfect! :)

But, I agree -- that's funny about no light fixtures. You know though, light fixtures aren't cheap, so I could see what that might be.

p.s we did rent a place here in AZ where there were no light fixtures at all and no w/d!! We were shocked about the light fixtures and could not believe we had to provide our own.

When you buy a flat in a high rise in China, it is similar. There are just pipes and wires sticking out of the walls waiting for the next owner. Maybe the previous owners of the charming pink house are enjoying their fixtures in their new home! :)

toilets are seperate in Australia too!! makes for a better idea if you ask me... if someone is in the shower you can still use the toilet!!

I have heard from people moving to germany no light fixtures and even the light switch cover!! why would you bother taking these with you when you moved?? and are all the same? you get light fixtures here in Australia.. so this one I dont get
