Sunday Evening

Thank you Catherine, Paula and Sheppy for your support, links and help! I truly appreciate all of it! I'm excited to follow the links you sent. I'll have some time after the kiddos go to bed.

Today was a difficult one. Fatigue was the reason, of course. We did get out for a drive so I could practice driving Bryce to work. We went back and forth 4 times. I got it! The girls and I are going to drop him off tomorrow. After nap time we took a very short walk around the neighborhood and talked with some neighbors. They seem to be very friendly indeed. We then drove to the Cactus grocery store so I could learn the way for tomorrow. Our outing for tomorrow is to grocery shop. I'm excited.

Bryce found the oven manual in English and downloaded it. Our landlady will be happy about that too. She doesn't read German either and learned to work the oven by trial and error.

The kids are not eating well. We're not eating well. Tonight I made Annies Arthur Noodles (only one box left!) for the girls and they nearly ate the whole box. It had an amazing effect on their mood! My oldest is having the hardest time adjusting to the food - even the basics. She announced this morning, in the middle of a fit, that she is NEVER going to eat toast the whole time we're in Luxembourg. Just a small taste of what our morning was like.

Fingers crossed for a better night. Thanks for your well wishes!

Everyone will feel better (and have a better appetite, I'm sure) when you've gotten back into your sleep rhythms. You've had such a busy month of travelling, I imagine you are all exhausted.

Courage!
There used to be an American store in Lux, but it's closed... There's still a British one, though, maybe you could find something closer to the kids' tastes there ? It's called Little Britain (http://www.littlebritain.lu/). I'm sure you've already heard of the American Women Club in Luxembourg, but anyway, here's their website : http://www.awcluxembourg.com/

I am thinking of you and sending lots of good thoughts your way. I am sure in a few days everyone will be adjusted much better! I hope to have something in the mail tomorrow for you to help the girls stay entertained for at least an hour or two. I hope it doesn't take too long to get there.

hello from israel! i'm an avid reader of syc stir and i look forward to reading about your transition getting smooether in lux. i moved here from the states - albeit without kids - but it can be quite a shocker outside the US. so good luck to you guys = parents and kids. and as an aside, now that i do have a kid, i found that trying to wake up in the morning, no matter how tired or what time you went to bed, helped start the transition back into being away during the day and exhausting your energy during daylight hours. hope it works for you too.

With such a huge change - it's not too surprising that the kids are controlling what they can (which would be what they eat). I hope you all settle in easily within the next few days. Remember to post about the things that you love there... that might help make the difficult things a little better. Good luck! Oh - and remember, I have your prize!
