SCRAPDOWN Project - Charm Quilt

I'm so glad you all are interested in scrapping with me. It always takes a bit of courage to put an idea out there, so thanks for your receptive comments.

I thought for our first project we could each make a charm quilt! I can't think of a better way to use a random assortment of scraps. Just to add a fun twist, let's swap some squares to use in our charm quilts. That way we can get to know each other a bit *and* we'll get to check out each others scrap stash. I thought we could model our charm quilts after this baby quilt of mine. It's not a charm quilt, but it easily could be.

Here is how to participate:

1) Send me an email with your name, mailing and email address. You can email me here.

2) Send 10 3 inch (7.6 cm) squares to EACH person participating (I'll provide a list of names and addresses)

3) Use the squares you receive and some from your own stash (if you desire) to construct a charm quilt. It can be as small or as large as you want.

4) Have fun!

Fine Print: A charm quilt is one in which each fabric is used only once. If you'd like to participate please send me an email by Wednesday, January 21st. To participate you must be willing to mail internationally and please, please be timely.

So . . .let's get on with it! Send me an email. I can hardly wait to start cutting my scraps for you! Oh, email or comment with questions.

I would love to participate. I'm not a quilter (I've made ONE). My question is...do the squares have to be perfectly square? I'm pretty sure I can make them mostly straight. So...that means we'd have to have at least ten different fabrics right? I'd really love to make another quilt and hopefully get tips on how to do a better job next time!

I would love to take part in this, but I'm scared I'll have to cut 600 squares! Any idea how many people will be involved?

I would like to do this also! I have been quilting for awhile so I have a very large stash that needs using. Will this be a one time exchange or a monthly one?

I'd like to play. May I ask how many folks you have on board so I know what I'd be in for? It's a great idea. Thanks.
