This one is for . . .

KATERINA!

Saturday afternoon I received the most thoughtful email telling me about a fabric fair on Sunday in Trier, Germany. The email was from a reader who is also an expat here in Luxembourg. From reading my blog she knew that I'd love the fabric fair and took the time to email me about it. And, the best part is . . . WE WENT!! Thank you Katerina!

I really didn't want to torture Bryce and the girls with a fabric fair. But my (totally awesome) husband was up for it. We spent about 1.5 hours at the fair and then had a late lunch in Trier. It was a great afternoon especially for me.

The fair, called Stoffmarket Holland, had booths and booths of all kinds of fabric, oodles of notions, and more lace and trim than I'd ever seen. I was surprised that I didn't recognize more of the fabric brands. They must have all been German companies. I did see one booth that had a few bolts of Amy Butler fabric but that was all that was familiar to me. It was really fun seeing all new designs.

Naturally I *had* to purchase a few meters of fabric. I didn't go crazy. I am in the process of eliminating my scraps and stash. I ended up with 2 1/2 meters of fabric, with my favorite being the soft blue with little silhouettes printed on it. It was also available in pale pink and pale lavender.

Thanks again Katerina!

OMG--I am (once again) consumed with jealousy! It strikes me that this experience shows yet another difference between European countries and the US--here anything like that would have been held inside some giant, soulless convention center/other facility where there was no natural light. It looks like yours was outside, where you could really see how the fabric looked.
Green with envy. Green with envy. Green with envy.

Katy - what a wonderful fine. I know any number of quilter folks who would have spent the entire day there and come home with bolts of fabric. Beautiful photos. Thanks.
