Switzerland - Part ll

Naturally I'll think of the moutains when I remember our time in Grindelwald. After all, the moutains are what brought us there.

Grindelwald is surrounding by mountains. It is a hikers paradise as it is full of trails through the country side and up into the mountains.

There are many little villages scattered up in the mountains from Grindelwald. There are trams, gondolas and trains that can easily transport you there. We took a 5 minute tram ride to Gimmelwald, a charming little village just above Grindelwald.

On the last day of our trip we ventured up the Jungfrau by train to the Jungfraujoch, The Top of Europe. To the Jungfraujoch it is a 50 minute train ride from Grindelwald, much of it in a tunnel inside the Jungfrau. The Jungfraujoch is the highest railway station in Europe. Once at the top we took in the views & walked through the Ice Palace (more like ice caves.)

More from our Swiss adventure next week! Believe it or not we're off to Kassel, Germany for the weekend. I'll tell you all about it when we return.

Love your Switzerland photos... It was great to show the country side to one of my kids who just read "The Apple and the Arrow " for school. Thanks for your great blog!
