Trick or Treat

Tonight was the American Women's Club of Luxemourg's (AWCL) Trick or Treat night. There was a great turn-out. The kids had a wonderful time. Are you wondering how trick or treating works in a country that doesn't celebrate Halloween? This is how: The AWCL supplies Halloween candy to a neighborhood that agrees to participate in the evening. Houses that are giving out candy have a sign and balloons in front of them. Works great!

Which ones were your goblins? I know the butterfly princess was one but which was the other?

Eva was a ghost. You can see her from behind with her blue hood coming out of her ghost costume. She was hard to photograph as she was off running with her friends most of the evening.

I had similar Halloweens growing up in Greece. Your post really brings back those memories.

My German friends tell me that the holiday is starting to take hold over there . . . Maybe Luxembourg is next.

Boo!

What fun for the girls!! PLEASE send me a photo of Eva in her ghost costume...I am so touched she was a ghost!! Please ask her if she was a chocolate ghost for me :)
Also we got the Happy Hallowee card and Audie's jack-o-lantern with ears card yesterday. Love it! They are up as our halloween decorations.

Tom, I certainly see Halloween merchandise in the stores, mostly related to costumes. There aren't huge pallets of pumpkins at the grocery stores or aisles of Halloween candy. I'm still not clear on how the holiday is actually celebrated by locals, though, but yes, there is much more Halloween paraphernalia here than I thought there would be.

Jacob was a ghost last year! Julia has opted for witch, then princess, and now puppy. It'll be a surprise what we end up with on the actual day for both of them.

How wonderful! I wasn't sure they would actually get to use their trick or treat bags... I just figured they would find some other use for them. Yay! Please send a picture of the two of them in their costumes if you have one! :) Sierra is set on being Ariel and I think Renate will be in the black cat costume.
