The natives have been restless since school let out. I think they haven't settled into summer yet. The other day we did some painting. We also put in a CD I had purchased a while ago but was saving for a rainy day. Or a sunny day. . .
A friend sent us a link to this super cool paper city. (Look through this guy's blog while you're at it, he's one talented dude.) I printed out a copy for each girl, got out the water colors and they had at it.
When the city, people and vehicles were painted I showed the girls how to draw a design with a sharpie and paint the spaces. Remember doing this as a kid? I think I mostly colored in the spaces with markers. This was a hit with both girls.
I can't say enough about Elizabeth Mitchell's You are my Little Bird CD. Lucia recommended it when I posted about keeping the kids happy in the car. It is the rare CD that I liked immediately, at first listen. It is folksy, and a bit blue -grassy (sure, they're words!) Many of the songs relate to birds. And the icing on the cake is the Neil Young song that she covers.

Thanks for sharing! (as usual)
Thanks for the heads up on this CD! I think it would make a great baby shower gift. Thanks!
I JUST DOWNLOADED THAT ALBUM YESTERDAY!!! I love the title track. When else can you sing about a coo coo bird?
Love the watercolor city! And so happy you love Elizabeth Mitchell as much as we do. Check out the free Land of Nod Podcast with her and Ella Jenkins together.
I am in complete 100% agreement. Elizabeth Mitchell is AMAZING. Particularly that CD. It has sweetened our experiences to have these songs and melodies in the background of our days for years. I never get tired of them. :)
