St. Nicholas Day
These tasty, charming little men have been in the bakeries around here for nearly a month now. They show up in late October and disappear after December 6th - St. Nicholas Day. They are called Boxemannchen. The majority of these little guys are made from brioche. Each bakery puts their own creative stamp on their Boxemannchen - chocolate, powdered sugar, faces, a pipe, lollipop, glaze - doesn't matter, they're all delicious.

Almost too cute to eat!
Hi Katy,
I just went through all of sthe St. Nicholas posts. Very interesting, indeed. Isn't it fun to learn and participate in these traditions?
I don't know that St. Nicholas is celebrated in my part of Italy. I haven't seen evidence of it, yet.
Did you ever make the chocolates with the mold?
Happy Day.
D
I wonder if they make these in Germany. I will have to ask my mother in law. Very cute. We posted you on our blog. My boys had fun making the St. Nicholas craft.
I have to say these are less delicious looking than most of your confections! But the whole St. Nicholas thing is so neat.
