Right Now: Late February

Untitled

Listening . . .to this song.  It is my most current repeat play.  She is 16 years old.  What were you doing when you were 16?  Yeah, me too.  Definitely not heading up a super cool band.  Just read about her in Rolling Stone.  Very different - in a good way.

Remembering . . .our wonderful trip to Hawaii to visit my sister and her family.  Just the girls and I went.  It was great to see the cousins getting to know each other again.

Reading . . .this for my Book Club.  Last month we read this, which was good.  I also finished #2 in the Hunger Games series.  Can't wait to start #3.  Things better work out for Katniss or I'll be pissed.

Eating . . .trashy food.  That's right.  Last weekend we gathered with the neighbors for another themed dinner - trashy food.  Or food inspired by trashy food. If that makes any sense.  I'll share the menu soon.

Enjoying . . .my drawing class.  Or I was until we started 1 point and 2 point perspective.  That is some tricky stuff.  I'd much rather draw a bunch of boxes instead of a hallway.  Ugh.

Untitled

Playing . . .games.  My 6 year old is obsessed with games these days.  Candy Land, Bird Bingo, Uno and Pass the Pigs are her current favs.

Coveting . . .a healthy left foot.  I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis for about 3 months now and I AM SOOO DONE WITH IT.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be done with me.  It is shockingly debilitating and painful.  Done, so done with pain. I feel broken, shuffling around like an old lady.

Tropical Flowers

Watching. . . this series.  Only 2 seasons!!  WAH! So smart and funny.  But he is coming to Seattle, going to have to make that happen.  I also watched this documentary with my sis and BIL.  It was fascinating.  Bryce and I just saw this (thanks to my in-laws for watching the girls.)  The first 1/3 was amazing.  Bradly Cooper was great.  Then it turned into a typical romantic comedy.  Too bad.

Thinking . . . about this blog.  Will I keep writing?  What will become of it?  I'm not sure right now.

Making . . . a first grade art project for the school auction.  I'll post details. . . hopefully.  Said the unreliable blogger.

Right Now: Late November

Listening:: to the rain fall and fall and fall. . .

doll quilts

Reading:: this dark and mysterious book.  I highly recommend it.

Remembering:: how to cook a turkey.  Not sure why I need to re-learn this each year, my mind must be filled with other things.
Doll Quilts

Watching:: this.  Strange I know but I just love this show. . . all except that cynical, negative Kevin O'Leary.

Thinking:: of our friends in Luxembourg. We met some great peeps over there.

Eating: mushrooms.  I'm seriously craving anything that contains them.  Today I bought some chantrelles to add to the Thanksgiving stuffing.

Making:: doll quilts and pillows.  My girls sewed the pillows all by themselves - they insisted!  So fun to be actually sewing with my daughters!!

Playing:: this song over and over again.  Do you get obsessed with specific songs and play them to death?  I do.
doll quilts

Feeling:: resigned to turning 40.  Not that I could have stopped it.  But the mental fight has ceased.  Guess that is good as my birthday is on Thursday.

Hoping:: the family will all be healthy soon - we've been hit with the stomach flu, coughs and colds.  Tis the season, I guess.
Stuffing

Wondering:: if Bryce and I will pull of this 40th birthday bash we have planned for each other (he turns 40 in December.) I've been so relaxed about it but now I'm freakin' out!

Coveting:: absolutely nothing.  Right now I feel like I have just what I need.

Please tell me, where are you right now

Feeling ~ A bit tentative and self conscious about blogging since it has been so long.

Reading ~ This ridiculously chubby book. In June my book club picks a longer read to hold us until we meet again in September. This may be the longest book I've attempted since college.
017
Appreciating ~ Slow, lazy mornings. These are one of the best parts of summer - no rushing, no furious hair brushing, no stress.

Eating ~ This salad. I think I've made it 4 or 5 times this summer already.
007
Hoping ~ for a hot, gorgeous August. I don't feel done with summer at all.

Enjoying ~ An afternoon at Green Lake with our neighbors.

Listening ~ To pop music. Seriously. If it is on a 10 year old girl's play list chances are it is on mine. I don't know what's gotten into me.

Wanting ~ To hire someone to give my blog an overall.  My blog doesn't look like I want it to and I'm not willing to spend hours pouring over code trying to figure it out.  Any recommendations?
022
Hearing ~ My girls bicker - really the hardest part of summer vacation.

Coveting ~ A solid night of sleep.  Insomnia stinks.

Right Now: End of January

Listening: to Pandora Radio. The girls are addicted to the Beach Boys station. It certainly is feel good music.

Enjoying: Our Saturday ski days. Being outside, being together and breathing the fresh air - all really good things. LinkReading: This parenting book. It addresses just what I've been thinking about and noticing in children lately. Just started this for my book club. I'm hooked already.

Making: Macarons. About a batch a week. Still struggling with baking time. My last batch was under cooked and wouldn't come off of the parchment paper.

Appreciating: Quiet days.

Hoping: We are able to make it to Luxembourg this summer. Missing the peeps there and really wanting to reconnect.

Eating: Protein. This is a challenge for me as it is not my go-to food group. Trying to get 25 grams per meal. Fage in the morning makes it a bit easier.

Feeling: Excited for spring. Warmer temps and less rain; I'm hopeful!

Watching: We're still hooked on 30 Rock. Just started season 5. I think it is the most hilarious show on TV. We just watched this movie on Saturday - an interesting concept.

Coveting: Not surprisingly, another cup of coffee.

What about you? Where are you right now?

Right Now: Late September

HIP_338076487.761475 Feeling ~ A bit more settled after a week and a half of living back in our house.

Enjoying ~ lots of kitty love.  We're so happy to have Gus back with us.  It is like no time has passed at all.

Watching ~ Season 4 of 30 Rock.  That show is hilarious.  Alec Baldwin is amazing.  Will start this next.

Eating ~ Homemade macaroni and cheese, the dish I christened our new oven with.

Making ~ What feels like a million trips to the store in an attempt to get our household organized and functional again - light bulbs, shelf paper, trash bags, flour, sugar, salt, broom, paper towels. . . .
HIP_338076386.769910
Listening ~ to local radio.  The chatter keeps me company as I unpack, sort, and put things away.

Remembering ~ our friends in Luxembourg and really missing them!!

Smelling ~ coffee from our newly purchased machine. Ah, life is good!

Appreciating ~ wonderful neighbors and old friends.

Coveting ~ routine.

Dandelion Chain
Watching . . .Bored to Death. We've only watched the first 5 episodes and have found that each one gets better and better. Jason Schwartzman plays a writer who moonlights as a private detective and Zach Galifianakis (who easily won me over in Between Two Ferns) plays his troubled best friend. HBO does it again!

Making . . .lots of plans for an upcoming girls weekend in Paris!

Smelling . . .lilacs which have been blooming for over a week now.
Dandelion Chain
Hoping . . .blogger actually saves and publishes this post. Lost the whole thing this morning. Fingers crossed the second time is a charm.

Reading . . . this classic recommended by Christina and Jennifer. When I'm finished I'll pick up The Lacuna again. Although this and this are calling my name too thanks to Jennifer.
Dandelion Chain
Enjoying . . .our last few months in Luxembourg before we move back to Seattle.

Wondering . . .if Eva will ever tire of working on her dandelion chain - the longest EVER. She has hopes of making it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Listening . . . to Angus and Julia Stone. After I caught on to Yellow Brick Road I've been obsessed. Heard this Neil Young cover on the radio. It is the first time Neil has given permission to have one of his songs sampled. It's not bad, even Bryce agrees.
Dandelion Chain
Feeling . . .terribly excited about the kitchen remodel in our Seattle house - counter tops, appliances, floors - the works!

Remembering . . . how very quickly time passes.
