Mummies

Saw this cute idea from Family Fun and thought we'd try it out. Yes, I know I should probably be packing, sorting, organizing, planning or doing some other joyless task. But, like the true slacker mom I am, I chose the project.

The directions called for wooden dixie cup spoons for the heads. I just cut cardboard heads out instead. Worked just fine.

To start the wrapping, I used a dab of hot glue to stick one end of the fabric strip onto the craft stick body. Then I handed it over to my 4 year old to wrap. When she came to the end of her fabric strip I secured the end with another dab of hot glue. I repeated this process with more fabric strips until the mummy was entirely wrapped.

The wrapping was a bit difficult for my daughter, but not at all to the point of frustration. She couldn't get it pulled very tightly, but it didn't bother her. Actually her mummies ended up looking better than my skinny, neat and tidy mummy (first in line.)

You know, I do like your daughter's a little better :) That's what happens when we strive for perfection! You know, I have that same problem.
