For Valentine's Day

Were you as taken with these felt, rose clips from Purl as I was? I immediately found a scrap of red felt and tried one out. So cute and pretty easy to make. A bit time consuming, but satisfying in the end. I used a bigger barrette than the pattern called for. Those little ones just don't hold enough hair. It was easy, I just made the pieces that cover the barrette a bit bigger. It did take a few tries to get it right, but it worked out just fine. I made one for each of my nieces and one each for my girls.
While the girls were making their Valentines I made a few as well. I think they are pretty sweet. The doily is actually quite small only 4 inches across or so. The initial is stamped on using the girls' set of alphabet stamps. Now to get them in the mail. They'll be late, of course. That's how it goes with long distance love.
Last year we made this I Love You garland. We still have it up! It has faded quite a bit and lost a few hearts, but we still enjoy looking at it. This year it's all about the Love Note Pillows. I saw another clever use for pants' pockets today. Have a look (scroll down a bit).

I made a couple of those barrette's, too. I love the Purl Bee. I made one into a corsage for my son, too, because he loved them, too.

Yes I am "back", though I have been reading your posts religiously as per usual! I absolutely love the heart garland idea, still trying to finish the Lady bug Valentine cards I saw on "The long thread", though I think I'll be a little late..Oh well, it's the thought that counts right? Been busy here, after a rather hectic holiday season with about 15 guests under one rook, my husband booked me a surprise trip to Shanghai in late January! It's been crazy! Landed back with a really bad cold and I've hit a bit of a wall in my expat experience, actually going to France to be able to enjoy understanding my environment for a wee bit, though it's not entirely like being in Canada, but it'll do...Apparently I have verbal diarrhea! Still enjoying your posts and your take on life overseas too! Hope February is being good to you too!

I am in love with your jean pocket pillows and actually think I had a dream about them a few nights ago - they are so cute and they appeal to the little girl in me who likes little things and little things to put other little treasures in...lots o' love to the family xoxox
