Snow Day
Addi Luxembourg!

I will miss the snowy winters. Maybe not the cold, though.

A handful of guide books compare the weather in Lux to that in Seattle. Let me set the record straight and say that they are very different. Luxembourg gets much, much colder and for much longer than Seattle. The winters here in Lux are loooooong. The summers in Lux are shorter, generally just June and July but can get very hot and HUMID. Due to the humidity there are thunderstorms in the summer when the weather breaks. Seattle's summer is July and August and even September. There isn't any humidity. Thank God! Both places are pretty gray, though.

Oh the lovely walking group, of course! I will miss it so. Once a week a group of moms from the girls' school meet for a walk. It has been wonderful to see so many parts of Luxembourg and spend time outside. I've met an amazing group of women from all over the world. I will miss the chats and our coffee and pastries afterward.

At the risk of repeating myself, I must say that Luxembourg has the most amazing networks of walking trails. I will miss the ability to walk out of the front door and within minutes be on a trail heading into the forest. This is a big one for me. It is so accessible. This time in Lux has reinforced how important the outdoors are to my sense of well being.

Chevre
Addi Luxembourg!

I will miss my favorite salad - Salade au Chevre Chaud. I hear Christina laughing as I write this. Her youngest daughter and I share a love of this salad. She teases me every time I order it. This salad is on every brasserie menu in Luxembourg and France (at least the parts of France I've been to.) It is my standard order. Must figure out how to make it at home. I recently remembered that the 74th St. Ale House on Greenwood has a goat cheese salad that is quite delicious. Fingers crossed it is still on the menu.

Clothes Line
Addi Luxembourg!

I will miss my wonderful backyard clothes line. A silly thing to miss, I know. But really it brings me such joy. On sunny days I start looking around for clothes to wash just so I can hang them up on the line. Luckily they are never in short supply. Must talk with my neighbor in Seattle about putting a line up between our houses.
