In the Kitchen

There is lots of goodness coming from our kitchen these days. Honestly, I think Bryce and I love our kitchen so much (thanks to the remodel) that we're cooking just to spend time there!

Roasted pumpkin seeds. I just roasted them with a little melted butter and soy sauce. They tasted good right out of the oven but the next day they were slimy. Anyone have a better method?
Kale Chips
Kale Chips
Kale chips. I've seen recipes for these floating around the blogosphere for sometime and have been curious about them. They were good. Watch the salt. There is no way you need the teaspoon that is called for in most recipes.

And breads - banana, pumpkin (I used a different recipe and it is really great - very moist) and Bryce has been making bread again! He has been making 2 loaves a weekend. It is delish.

oh, pumpkin seeds! i blogged about them recently too (and just put up a different recent & delicious recipe, which i highly recommend). anyway, so you don't have to go digging, i used the roasted pumpkin seeds from Simply Recipes this year. AMAZING. kids devoured them. we all devoured them. http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/toasted_pumpkin_seeds/
you should run out and get another pumpkin just for those seeds. ;)

and kale chips--i recently tried these too, and definitely added too much salt. and i think i overcooked them a tad too. will have to try again as they keep popping up all over the place!

I have wanted to try these Kale Chips too. Did your girls like them? We totally burnt our pumpkin seeds. So sad!

I tossed mine in a little olive oil, and then sprinkled with Lawry's Seasoned Salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika. I never wash them, so there is a bit of pumpkin guts on them, but that tastes delicious. They did not get at all slimy, but we ate them pretty quickly.

I soak mine in salty water for a while, strain them and then bake them with more salt and other seasonings if I feel like it (seasoning salt sometimes).

I don't bother with any sort of oil/butter because of the slime factor.
