The holidays are in full swing around here.  Saturday saw the annual holiday get together with my quilting group.  Seen here is a Christmas quilt completed by my friend Martha.  A fellow quilter brought this gorgeous apple pie.  Nearly too pretty to eat, don't you agree?

Sunday was a wonderful combination between relaxing and baking.  The girls and I made 3 different kinds of Christmas cookies.

How was your weekend?

Scenes From the Weekend

on a Tuesday . . .

Here in Seattle we have enjoyed a beautifully sunny fall.  This weekend was no exception.  Sunday was particularly lovely.  Here are a few highlights from the weekend ~

Last weekend I got the gift of spending it with just one child.  This doesn't happen very often if at all.  Bryce and the eldest were together in the mountains and Audrey and I spent the weekend at home.  I made a conscious effort to plan activities for us instead of just "hanging out" and playing it by ear (which is my usual MO.) I didn't want to squander this precious time with just one.

Friday we went out for dinner.  Not really a highlight as Audrey was so wasted from the week she was basically catatonic.

Saturday we made pumpkin bread.  That girl loves her baked goods and pumpkin bread is right at the top of the list.

Later we bought some bulbs and planted them all over the yard.  I went over-board with the buying.  Audrey insisted on digging the holes herself.  No easy feat with her pink plastic beach trowel.  While we were out in the yard we picked another pound or so of our Sugar Lump tomatoes.  I'm very pleased with this variety.

Then there was her soccer game and a walk up to the corner store for a treat.  Sunday we hit the Farmer's Market where we purchased some peaches (one of Audrey's fav.)  We stopped by the craft store for some supplies for her Halloween costume (you know we've been excited for Halloween since September 1.)  She's going to be a black cat this year.

What about you?  How was your weekend?

The Weekend in Review

It was a hot, busy and super fun weekend over here.  We kicked it off with friends and a whole lot of pulled pork! (yes, it was a recipe from Pinterest)

Saturday, the girls had a lemonade stand (something that was on their summer to-do list.)  I pulled massive amounts of weeds from our back yard and Bryce fetched and hauled 10 bags of compost for me.  After all the strenuous labor we relaxed in Bryce's grandma's pool! Thanks Lucy!  It was heavenly.  No pictures as I would have had to leave the pool to get my camera.  That just wasn't going to happen.
lemonade!

Sunday saw a little more yard work, a little more lemonade standing, a nature scavenger hunt (thanks, Michele) some visiting and a bbq birthday party.

A perfect balance of puttering around the house and  getting out.  I love weekends like that.  How was yours?

Scenes from the Weekend

It was a festive weekend! The holdiay-ing has started!

:: Annual ornament exchange party. I brought a sushi ornament this year. It wasn't the most fought over, a VW bus won that title, but it did get stolen a few times.
Zebra Cake
:: Made this zebra cake to bring to the party.
Getting the Christmas Tree
:: We got our tree!
Tree Decorating
:: We decorated the tree. The girls L.O.V.E this!

Tree Decorating
:: Unrelated to the merry making I took a photography workshop on Saturday. I rented a portrait lens for the class and really enjoyed experimenting with it. Love the bokehs!
